Wow, a music thread on a wrestling board that's not filled with radio rock filth or the Insane Clown Posse.

Yeasayer: 2080 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AOdtcUHLpyk

The Microphones: The Pull - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bNSY8bDfhGs&feature=related

Blonde Redhead: This is Not - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=naJkQ1PeBcM

???

Dan Deacon has an awesomely energetic live show and some really melodic tunes (like Crystal Cat). It's a bit wacky and dissonant at times, but his songs typically have a bit more structure than the ambient half-speed meanderings I've heard from Animal Collective.

I also think Animal Collective's live shows would be a lot better if they were more like this:

Ambient half-speed meanderings!? Songs like In the Flowers, My Girls, Summertime Clothes, Daily Routine, and Brothersport on the new album are crazy catchy and have refrains and things too. Give Merriweather another listen...

Glad I'm not the only one who doesn't get the Animal Collective stuff. Their Letterman performance had me scratching my head so I listened to some other stuff and still felt generally the same way about it.

WOW, apparently I'm dyslexic. I read it as Dan Deacon.

I really liked My Girls off MPP, but everything else was very blah to me.

For no particular reason, most likely my own egomania, I uploaded a few recent songs I've enjoyed. An attempt was made to stay faithful to the "rock" mentioned in the title, but it wasn't a complete success. So here it is, I am certain that Passion Pit song with be inescapable before the end of summer, that is if you find yourself trapped inside an American Apparel. But at least you'll know what it is when a friend returns from a day of outlet shopping for white belts and pulls an Al Bundy by humming an approximation to you.

Casper & The Cookies - Keep Talking
Lacrosse - My Stop
Moofish Catfish - Two Of A Kind
Passion Pit - Little Secrets
Suburban Kids With Biblical Names - Europa
tada tátà - Hit The Wall
The Legends - Dancefloor

Whats your opinion on Animal Collective, words? Since everyone is voicing their opinion on the subject, do you like or dislike them?

ps thanks for the mix, ive had that Passion Pit song, along with "Sleepyhead" stuck in my head since I started listening to the album a couple weeks ago.

I haven't listened to much Arcade Fire since like, high school -- but I came across this incredible and simple live performance of Wake Up that La Blogotheque filmed in Paris:

I saw them in Philly right after Wincing the Night Away came out and they were tight, but nothing special. Sounded a whole lot like the albums without adding too much, but again was still pretty tight. Where'd they play? I saw em at the Electric Factory back then.
